LA GALAXY VS LAFC

After being drawn against each other in the Us Open Cup round of 16 The LA Galaxy and LAFC met once again. The LA Galaxy coming off two embarrassing losses against FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo at home they needed a win to restore its fortress which is Dignity Health's park. These rivals have met a total of 15 times with the Galaxy leading 6-3-5. LAFC has yet to win a game away against the Galaxy in its short history so the pressure was on, but for the Galaxy, this was an opportunity to get back to its winning ways and what an opponent to do it against.

With the last meeting ending in a 3-2 victory for the LA Galaxy,  LAFC looks to assert some sort of dominance as they sit atop of the MLS table in first place, That was not the case. After taking a blow in losing Carlos Vela in the 20th minute LAFC looked Flat and disengaged. After a tight first half only one team came out to play and that was the LA Galaxy. They came out looking like a different team that lost its last two at home. This team came out with heart and passion putting on a show for its beloved fans. Cabral started the night finishing off a lovely cross put in by Raheem Edwards in the 51st minute and not too long after whole else, Chicharito tallied on another in the 57th with an amazing effort giving the Galaxy a comfortable 2-0 lead. LAFC couldn’t seem to get its rhythm going against the Galaxy as the game went on. Simply out hustling, Muscling, and outsmarting its rival this looked like another win for the Blue, White, and gold. The night wasn’t over for the G’s with super-sub Dejan Joveljic adding one more for insurance purposes in the 81st minute before Ryan Holding was able to get a consolation goal for the visiting side. The final whistle was blown and the LA Galaxy was victorious once again against its cross-town rival.

The drama didn’t stop there, Former LAFC man and current Galaxy star Raheem Edwards seemed to play a villain-like role against his former side to perfection. After shutting down player after player that LAFC would send to him, the men in Black and Gold seemed rattled and let frustrations boil throughout the game until they finally erupted causing a scuffle midfield capped off by a very passionate Julian Araujo, kissing his badge in the direction of the traveling fans capping off a tremendous night for the 5x MLS Champs!
